Sensus Chartered Professional Accountants Ltd. is a medium-sized, growth orientated public practice accounting firm with four offices in Manitoba (Russell, Brandon, Shoal Lake and Virden) and one office in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. We are now hiring for accounting technicians.

 

We are seeking an individual interested in a long-term career in public practice with our firm. The successful candidate will assist with review engagements, compilations and related corporate and individual tax returns for small to medium-sized enterprises.

 

A professional accounting designation and experience in public practice are definite assets. However, education in an accounting program or experience in a public accounting role will also be considered an asset.

Sensus Chartered Professional Accountants Ltd. is currently seeking an experienced CPA to join the Sensus team as an Accountant.

 

Education and Professional Skills/Knowledge:

  • A Chartered Professional Accountant designation is required.

  • Public accounting experience including audit, review and notice to reader financial statements and the preparation of personal and corporate tax returns is required.

  • Proven ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.

  • Experience with the accounting software, Caseware and with the tax software, Profile would be considered an asset.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), negotiation, and problem solving skills. Effective communication with our clients, as well as with our partners and staff.

  • Ability to handle sensitive issues diplomatically and confidentially.

  • Ability to work independently and as an integral team member.

 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain client relationships at the highest level, including accountability for most operational aspects of client engagement.

  • Lead and develop less experienced staff through coaching, mentoring, knowledge transfer and assigning challenging work opportunities.

  • Effectively lead engagement teams in the planning and execution of Assurance and Accounting projects and engagements.

  • Prepare and deliver financial statements according to Firm and regulatory standards.

Yorkton, Saskatchewan. We are now hiring for CPA students.


We are seeking an individual interested in a long-term career in public practice with our firm. General
responsibilities include the following:

 

  • Perform compilation and review engagements for incorporated and unincorporated business entities. This includes the preparation of financial statements.

  • Perform audits on small and medium sized not for profit organizations to ensure compliance with accounting standards and statutory requirements.

  • Attend municipal audits, perform testing and assist audit supervisor/ manager to gather information required to complete the audit.

  • Prepare audit reports and audit findings communications.

  • Prepare financial statements for the audited entities.

  • Ensure accuracy and compliance to accounting standards, procedures and internal controls.

  • Prepare general ledgers, journal entries and trial balances.

  • Prepare bank reconciliations.

  • Filing of GST / PST returns for clients.

  • Assess fixed assets and depreciation.

  • Preparation and filing T2 corporate tax returns.

  • Store, update and retrieve financial data.

  • Examine financial records and transactions.

  • Act as support staff for various departments as needed.

  • Perform clerical duties, such as maintaining filing and record systems.

  • Answer customer inquiries.

  • Perform general office duties.

  • Attend in house training sessions.

  • Attend weekly staff audit / corporate year end meetings.
